Beautiful area about a 40 minute walk from Malham, where rewarded with great cliffs and a waterfall at end. It's mostly flat, though with some rocky gravel on the way and some larger rocks close to the waterfall. No facilities onsite, though a few picnic tables near the entrance.

Wow what a scenic place. A beautiful spot which is very accessible. It looked like a lot of parking around too for free. However, spaces are limited. A very busy spot with many many people of all ages and abilities. The walk itself is like a motorway - very busy and an easily manageable path to the site. Truly stunning.
There was a food truck at the entrance too which was smelling delicious but was very busy even on the 2nd day of March.
We walked to the point and backed on ourselves and walked up to the top along the side for some truly amazing views, and then onward to the tarn.
Usually I would give 4 stars as it was incredibly busy but it really is beautiful and loads of walks around to make it as easy or as challenging as you like - a great visit!

Gordale Scar is a breathtaking limestone gorge near Malham, offering dramatic cliffs, a stunning waterfall, and a great hiking experience. The walk to the scar is scenic, and adventurous visitors can climb up the waterfall. A must-visit for nature lovers and hikers seeking an impressive landscape.
A great picnic spot

This walk is one of the most scenic in Yorkshire, offering waterfalls, dramatic cliffs, and panoramic views all in one route. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just love a good countryside adventure, Gordale Scar and Malham Walk is an unforgettable experience.
Start at Malaham Village, the circular walk is roughly 7-8 miles. Then, onto Janet's Foss, where if you're daring enough, you can enjoy a dip in the water. From there, the route leads to Gordale Scar, which you can scramble up or take the alternative walking route to Malham Tarn before heading to towards the famous Malham Cove.
The National Park visitor car park is £5 all day. Contact less pay. There are also toilets at the front of the car park.

I did a circular hike to Malham cove, Malham tarn then to the top of Gordale scar. Took the safer route back down & had a stroll up the path to the bottom of the waterfall.

Lovely waterfall and stunning scenery. You can scramble up the waterfall in summer months, but today's visit in winter there was lots of water. It can be very busy around here on weekends and in summer.

Our January 1st annual walk. Decided to go to Gordale Scar. Definitely worth the very short walk from where we parked the car. River was definitely at its highest.

It’s a stunning must-see location and tagged onto Janet’s Foss and Malham Cove, makes for a 10k classic but be warned, I spotted far too much litter and there were hoards of visitors (probs due to the Xmas holiday period), which took the shine off, therefore choose your time accordingly.
